Six women trapped in elevator rescued

dubai — The land rescue section of the Dubai Police rescued six women, who were trapped in the elevator of a villa, a senior police officer has said.

Maj.-Gen. Abdullah Bishoh, head of the land rescue department at the Dubai Police, said these women were among the people rescued in five different accidents during the Eid holidays. However, there were no casualties in these incidents, he said.

The other people rescued in the incidents handled by the officials included a man who got locked up in his room, as well as passengers of a minibus and two cars which were overturned due to speeding in different areas in Dubai. “No causalitie­s have been reported in all these accidents because of the efforts made by rescue teams to save the lives of the people involved,” he said.

Maj-Gen Bishoh said that the department trains individual­s to deal with various types of rescue operations as per the highest internatio­nal standards, pointing out that the staff are trained to use the latest tools in various types of land accidents, and carry out periodic exercises throughout the year. Their level is measured and refresher courses are given.
