Five UAE lady riders in fray

dubai — A five-member UAE ladies team will be in the fray in one of the four rides that are part of the HH Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan Sardegna Endurance Festival which takes place on June 30, July 1 & 2 at the scenic Horse Country Resort area in Arborea, Sardinia in Italy.

Organised by the HH Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival, the four rides which are part of the Sardegna Endurance Festival are the HH Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Ladies CEI Two-star Cup; HH Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan Endurance Cup-CEI Two-star ride; a Regional CEI One-star 90km race and a under-21 years event, the CEI YJ Two-star 120km ride.

The UAE Ladies team members and horses they will be riding in the HH Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Ladies CEI Two-star Cup are: Alia Al Saboori on Oregon, Alyazia Al Romaithi on Holoutaria 3, Ayesha Al Romaithi on Shamberlai­n, Nouf Ali on Aranza and Mira Alansari on Dahes. The Chef D’équipe of the UAE ladies team is Mussallem Alamri, Director of Al Jazira Stables I & II.

“A breathtaki­ng race will start at dawn on Saturday, July 1 and will continue with other categories on Sunday, July 2. It will go through a fascinatin­g and enjoyable territory, both for riders and public. The path is going to develop between secular pinewoods, ponds, beaches and even an old fisherman’s village, named Marceddì, a strategic point for watching the race.

In the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Endurance Cup over 35 men and lady riders are likely to be participat­ing in the 120-km competitio­n.

The distance in the 120 km events has been divided into four stages. The first over 36 kilometres (red flags) followed by a 40-minute rest period; the second phase over 36 kilometres (red flags) followed by a 40-minute rest period; third phase over 25km (white flags), then a rest period of 40 minutes, and the fourth and final stage over 25 km (yellow flags).

The HH Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival is sustained by the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority.
