Cloud seeding brings rain to parts of the UAE
dubai — We maybe wondering why it’s raining in some parts of the UAE when we are in the middle of summer and the temperature is hovering at a high of 50 degrees Celsius? The answer is a combination of cloud seeding and natural weather phenomenon.
Cloud seeding has successfully brought rains over the northeast side of Al Ain, a meteorologist at the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) confirmed to Khaleej Times on Friday.
The rain is also a result of the towering cloud formation brought about by southeasterly fresh winds coming from the mountain of Oman and the UAE combined with high humidity from the seas and the high temperature.
Some parts of the UAE got a brief relief from the hot weather after receiving light to moderate rains while some parts received strong rain on Friday. Residents also shared videos on social media, showing flooding in certain areas.
Rain is expected to continue in the next two days as there is still a chance of towering clouds over the eastern and southern areas, associated with some rainfall in varying intensity.
Meanwhile, the general weather forecast is hot to very hot; partly cloudy and hazy at times. There will be moderate winds, freshening at times over some areas, that may cause blowing dust and sand reducing the horizontal visibility over the exposed areas. Sea will be rough in the Arabian Gulf and in Oman Sea.
