paris — The Arab Women Foundation has withdrawn the nomination of Sheikha Mozah bint Nasser Al Missned, mother of the Amir of Qatar, from the seventh First Arab Ms Award 2017.

The foundation also froze all forms of communication and dealings with Qatari bodies related to women’s issues in protest against the dangerous role played by Qatar in harbouring terrorist and extremist entities and conspiring against the safety of Arab states.

The foundation said the board of directors of the Arab Women Foundation has unanimously adopted a decision to cancel the nomination file of Sheikha Mozah for the final award and to delete all references to her in all communications of the foundation.

Mohammed Al Dulaimi, secretary-general of the foundation, said the decision to cancel the nomination came in the light of statements and definitive evidence revealed to the public that condemn the Qatar government and its rulers for supporting and financing terror and promoting the discourse of hatred and extremism among people. —

dubai — Qatari response to the demands by the Arab nations was naive and weak and the quartet meeting in Cairo did well by ignoring it, tweeted Dr. Anwar Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, on Saturday

Elabaroating on Qatar’s response to the 13 demands, he said Doha lacked the courage and ran away from responsibility and added those who drafted the response took shelter behind the term of sovereignty.

Meanwhile, British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson said on Saturday progress could be made to heal a rift between Qatar and other Arab states, although a solution was unlikely to be found immediately.

“My impression is progress can be made and there is a way forward,” Johnson said in a televised interview released to media after meeting senior government figures in Kuwait which is attempting to mediate between the two sides.

“But I’m not going to pretend to you now that it is necessarily overnight or this is going to be done in the next couple of days,” he said.

Johnson, who held meeting on Friday with Saudi Crow Prince Mohammed bin Salman, is due to travel to Qatar later on Saturday for meetings with its Amir and prime minister. —
