Tamim signs up with Essex
Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal will turn up for Essex for the ongoing NatWest T20 Blast after signing an eightmatch deal. The southpaw will be the second overseas signing after Pakistan leftarm pacer Mohammad Amir and will be available to play for the side from Sunday’s (July 9) game against Kent.
Tamim has enjoyed great success in England, averaging 64 in Tests and 50.71 in ODIs. Among his other exploits in the country is his recent success in the Champions Trophy, where he finished as the third highest rungetter with 293 runs and was instrumental in Bangladesh’s maiden qualification to the semifinals of the tournament.
