Ajman privatises waste management services
ajman — The Ajman Municipality has started privatising of cleanliness, waste management and pest control services in nine areas to achieve Ajman 2021 vision that aims at building a green economy and achieve sustainable development.
The plans are made under the instructions of Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Ajman Municipality and Planning Department (AMPD). He stated that the emirate has experienced significant achievements during its transformation to one of the world’s major green cities, due to the implementation of modern international public cleanliness standards.
Speaking to Khaleej times, Abdul Rahman Mohammed Al Nuaimi, director-general of the municipality, said that the AMPD is making great efforts to use the latest environment-friendly technologies to contribute to the preservation of public health and safety.

He added that the AMPD is making efforts to support the specialised sector to carry out services such as cleanliness, waste management and pest control in nine areas in the emirate, which includes the new industrial zone, industrial areas in Al Jarf, Al Rawada, Muwaiteh, Rashidiya, Nuaimiya, Lwaira, Rumaila and Al Nakheel.
Al Nuaimi pointed out that the AMPD has recently signed contracts with some local and foreign companies committed to providing the latest mechanisms, including electronic systems.
The department will also use advanced equipment for waste management and recycling, emphasising on the principle of using environment-friendly mechanisms that contribute to the reduction of carbon emission. “The role of these private companies will not only be limited to general cleaning and waste management services but also pest control by using the latest international methods in this field. The pest control work will include sterilisation of containers and spraying of pesticides at shops, public facilities and government premises on a weekly basis.
