3 charity schools get 231 free ACs

- Staff Reporter

sharjah — Learning conditions for more than 3,000 students and teachers at the three National Charity Schools in Sharjah have been improved thanks to a leading airconditioning solutions company.

Taqeef, the AC specialists, replaced 231 old, ineffective and noisy ACs throughout the schools, with new, noise-reducing cooling technology. The units were donated and installed free of charge by Taqeef as part of the company’s committed corporate social responsibility and community engagement programme.

With several of the existing units over 20 years old, the schools were struggling to maintain a comfortable temperature in the classrooms, and children often found it difficult to hear their teachers over the noisy ACs.

Technicians from the Taqeef team visited the schools last month, and installed the quieter, powerful cooling units over the course of a week, ahead of the summer.

Tariq Al Ghussein, CEO of Taqeef, commented: “At Taqeef, our aim is to help the people of this region live and learn more comfortably. That’s why CSR programmes like this are integral to Taqeef’s culture of contributing positively to the country and giving back to the communities that make our success possible. Through this initiative with the National Charity Schools in Sharjah, we aim to improve the working environment of the children, while also helping the schools to be more energy efficient.”

The National Charity Schools provide education from grade-one to high school graduation, making quality teaching available to expatriate students regardless of their social and economic status.

Following the installation, the students and staff members of the schools held an event and gave a short presentation to express their gratitude to Taqeef.

Nada Moamar, a grade 4 student at the Sharjah Girls School, said: “Walking into a cool class in the morning feels great. It’s much easier to focus and learn now.”

Sharjah Girls School Music teacher Rania Baghdady, commented: “Finally, I can hear these wonderful children sing. These new units really will revolutionise my music lessons. Thank you Taqeef !”’

Taqeef now has plans to donate an additional 144 units to improve 35 classrooms at the Ajman Boys & Girls School, benefitting a further 2,400 students.
