abu dhabi — The Ministry of Interior (MoI) has provided the General Command of Civil Defence with a new vehicle to serve as an ‘accidents assistant’.

It comes as part of the move to modernise firefighting and rescue vehicles and equipment, to reduce response time for accidents and promote the preventive efforts against risks and safety challenges.

The vehicle is classified as the “Number 1 responder” to accidents, and is considered the commander’s eye in the field during an accident. It will provide a live broadcast of the incident to the main operations room, sending images and videos directly through mobile networks and satellites.

It comes with modern mobile operating room complying with the latest international standards. It’s also equipped with combined traffic monitoring systems, nationality and residence systems, information enquiry and accounts systems and penal and accidents security systems.

It’s equipped with five screens, four fixed cameras, a seven-metre high mobile camera and another external camera, as well as IP telephones, a digital communication system and a multi-use fax machine. It is also equipped with a meteorological station to monitor weather conditions during an accident, he added.

Major-General Jassem Mohammed Al Marzouqi, Commanderin-Chief of the Civil Defence, stated that the new vehicle, manufactured in Germany, is now part of the Civil Defence fleet, as per the directives of Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior.
