Fire in Sharjah apartment doused
sharjah — Sharjah Civil Defence firefighters managed to contain a blaze that erupted in an apartment in the City Plaza building in Al Tawoun area of Sharjah on Monday night.
The fire, which started in the kitchen, gutted the apartment located on the 23rd floor. No causalities have been reported.
Speaking to Khaleej Times, Colonel Sami Al Naqbi, director-general of Sharjah Civil Defence, said

the operations room received a call about the fire at about 10.45pm. Multiple firefighting teams rushed to the site in less than five minutes.
The firefighters evacuated all the residents of the 25-floor building with 25 floors and controlled the fire within eight minutes, preventing it from spreading to the neighbouring apartments.
Col Al Naqbi said the building is well-equipped with all firefighting systems such as alarm, hose reels and extinguishers, which helped a great deal in dousing the fire quickly.
The cooling operation has been completed and the building is now safe to be occupied again.
