dubai — Four men, including two brothers, have been charged with kidnapping a compatriot man who owed some money to the two brothers.

According to public prosecution records, the four Pakistanis in the age group between 26 and 43, told the victim that they were taking him to police custody but they drove to a remote location where they threatened to hurt him with a knife unless he returned the money.

They were all charged in the Court of First Instance with kidnap and making criminal threats. The incident took place on April 11 and the complaint was registered at Al Rashidiyah police station.

“I was walking outside my place in the English cluster of International City, around 10pm on April 11 when I saw a group of men I knew. One of them had lent me Dh6,600. He asked me to settle my dues to him. When I told him I had no money at the moment, they all beat me up,” the complainant, a 33-year-old worker, said.

The four men then told the worker to ride in their car, claiming that they would take him to the police station and complain against him.

“They drove me to the desert in Al Khawaneej where they stopped their car and one of them threatened to hurt me with a knife. Later, they dropped me back at my place. I filed a complaint at Al Rashidiyah
