Paramedics save girl who almost drowned
dubai — Dubai paramedics have rescued a 13-year-old girl from drowning in the swimming pool of her building in Al Mamzar.
Talib Gholum Talib, director of ambulance operations at the Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services (DCAS), said the corporation was tipped off on Sunday at 1pm that a child had almost drowned while she was pulled out from the swimming pool. The operations room was told that her heart had stopped beating and that she was not breathing.
The ambulance emergency responder rushed to the location and informed the emergency doctor to rush directly to the venue. The team reached the building in under four minutes.
According to the emergency doctor, Dr Hafiz Mubarak, the girl’s heart had completely stopped after her parents managed to rescue her from the pool.
“We performed a cardiopulmonary resuscitation, provided her with the medicine that resuscitates the heart and opened a windpipe,” he said. Within minutes, she gained consciousness and was rushed to the Dubai Hospital.
“The concerted efforts of the paramedics and reaching the place on time had contributed to saving the girl’s life. Her parents thanked the DCAS team for their efforts,” added Dr Mubarak.
He urged parents to keep a watchful eye on their children.
