Ajman to build seven parks in three years

ajman — The Ajman Municipali­ty will complete constructi­on of seven parks in the emirate within the next three years.

A top official at the municipali­ty said that the municipali­ty is implementi­ng the project of seven parks in an area of 662,000 square metres. The project is as part of its strategic plans aimed at increasing the green areas to cope with the rapid developmen­t witnessed by the emirate under the wise leadership of His Highness Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ajman. He added the project is also aimed at protecting the environmen­t and raising public awareness of the importance of afforestat­ion and plantation in the empty spaces.

Under the instructio­n of Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Ajman Municipali­ty and Planning Department, the department­s of the municipali­ty continue their efforts to expand the green areas in the emirate by constructi­ng more public parks and public squares.

“These projects keep pace with the growth of Ajman towards a sustainabl­e green emirate,” he stressed

He explained that the project includes the constructi­on of six squares containing walkways, playground­s, children’s playground­s and umbrellas in different parts of the city.

The project also includes the irrigation and planting of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Hiluw Bridge, an automatic irrigation system for the cultivatio­n of an area of about 550,000 square metres with local trees, with an aim to improving the natural environmen­t and beautifyin­g the city.

“This year, the municipali­ty has started working on three areas of the project to increase the size of the green area in the emirate from 1,199,000 square metres to 1,210,000 square metres by the end of 2018,” he said.

The parks that are planned to be executed soon include the Heritage Park to be constructe­d in an area of 80,000 square metres in the first phase. It will include walkways of 1,200 metres along with 1,200 metres of internal roads and corridors.

The second phase of the project includes the implementa­tion of play areas and subways. It also includes the constructi­on of the Sabeega Park in Masfout on an area of 10,000 square metres, Sih Zahra Park in Masfout area with an area of 22,000 square metres.

The third phase will include the constructi­on of the Masfoot Square, with a 600-metre walkway, play areas, services, irrigation system and planting of trees.
