- Staff Reporter

abu dhabi — The Abu Dhabi Police’s air wing department conducted 845 operations, including 47 missions to airlift injured and sick people, during the first six months of 2017.

Officials said there were 67 air rescue operations, including 20 for airlifting road accident victims, 47 for transporting patients to hospitals and two search operations for people lost in the desert. The air wing also carried out 401 police day and night patrols and 300 staff training operations.

Brigadier General Ali Mohamed Al Mazrouei, director of the Air Wing Department at the Abu Dhabi Police, said: “Police do many operations to rescue injured and sick people in addition to searching for lost people.”

The officer noted that one of the difficulties they face during rescue operations is not having a place for a helicopter to land, especially at night, but their pilots are skillful and always ensure that the operations are a success.

The police said the medical teams on board the Air Ambulance provide the necessary treatment to the injured on the flight to the hospital and submit reports on their condition to the hospital officials and staff after reaching.
