Foundation will cover treatment of Yemenis

abu dhabi — The Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation has announced that it will cover the cost of treating 90 injured Yemenis in various Indian hospitals. The foundation will also pay for their care givers of those who were wounded during the war started by the Houthis-led militia.

The number of injured people, whose treatments will be covered by the foundation and other humanitarian and charity organisations, has reached 300.

The UAE has also covered the cost of treatment for 1,500 injured Yemenis in Jordan, Sudan and India, and has sponsored rescue and medical caravans to support the Yemeni people.

The foundation’s initiative is part of the directives of the President, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and the monitoring of Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Presidential Affairs and Chairman of the Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation.

The foundation confirmed that it will cover the cost of treating a new group of injured Yemenis during the coming period, as part of its continuous support for the Yemeni people, in a bid to reduce their suffering due to the difficult conditions they are going through in their country.

The foundation will also cover the expenses of the care-givers of the injured to provide the appropriate physical and psychological environment for their recovery, as well as the means of transporting these injured people to hospitals, in co-ordination with the Yemeni government.

The humanitarian and health conditions in Yemen have largely deteriorated due to violations by the coup militias that prevented the delivery of food and medical aid to various Yemeni regions.

The UAE has continued to provide rescue and development assistance, currently worth $2 billion, since the beginning of the crisis. — Wam
