Capital launches car safety drive for kids
abu dhabi — The Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood (SCMC) has launched the ‘My Child’s Chair’ initiative, in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior, to provide child car seats for children to protect them in road accidents.
Reem Abdullah Al Falasi, secretary-general of the SCMC, said that it came on the directives of Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, supreme chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation and president of the SCMC.
It is among the humanitarian initiatives launched by Sheikha Fatima to realise the UAE’s goals, aspirations and vision of the wise leadership, and the aims of the Year of Giving 2017.
She added that the campaign also supports the decision of the ‘Mother of the UAE’, dedicating the annual Emirati Children’s Day held on March 15, and the country’s efforts, to the protection and care of its children.
Al Falasi explained that the initiative is directed towards mothers, fathers and family members, to urge them to donate unwanted child car seats, and encourage them to use these seats appropriately.

People can contribute at donation centres for the campaign, as specified by the Council. These are the General Women’s Union Centre in Abu Dhabi, the Dubai’s Women Association, the Women’s Union Association Sharjah, the Al Nahda Women’s Association Ras Al Khaimah, the Community Development Centre in Fujairah, Women’s Association of Umm Al Quwain, and the Umm Al Moumineen Women’s Association in Ajman.
SCMC had previously launched several charity and voluntary initiatives and projects, as well as activities related to social responsibility, especially those initiatives that are part of the Year of Giving 2017. — Wam
