Four drug peddlers nabbed in RAK

- Ahmed Shaaban

ras al khaimah — The Ras Al Khaimah Police have nabbed four Emirati residents involved in peddling drugs here in the northern emirate.

Colonel Adnan Ali Al Zaabi, director of the anti-narcotics department of the RAK Police, said on Saturday that they managed to arrest the four dealers, in possession of banned narcotic crystals they intended to sell across the country. “The anti-narcotics department was alerted by undercover agents that four Emirati men were abusing and possessing narcotic crystals for peddling among their customers, who are mostly youth.”

A search and tracking team was formed to verify the tip-off and closely monitor the suspects, he added. “Armed with the prosecution permission, a trap was set and the anti-narcotics team caught the druggies red-handed,” he said. “They proved to be peddling narcotics in a certain car with specific features and fake number plate.”

The accused were so cautious in their movements and used different techniques to cover their illegal practices, he revealed. “However, the diligent anti-narcotics team managed to detect, track, and arrest them in the act.”

The RAK Police’s anti-narcotic department had earlier detained two Asian residents involved in peddling some 10,000 narcotic tramadol pills.

Two drug dealers were also busted with 7,460 narcotic tramadol tablets, worth around Dh75,000. A few days ago, the RAK Police nabbed another two Asian drug dealers involved in peddling heroin. ahmedshaaban@khaleejtimes.com
