Woman jailed for life for killing love child

ras al khaimah — The Ras al Khaimah Criminal Court has sentenced a domestic help to life in jail for killing her newborn and dumping the body in a waste bin.

The accused, who was also found guilty of having sex out of wedlock, was ordered to be deported after completion of her imprisonment. As per court records, the case came to the fore when the sponsor of the suspect rushed her to the emergency section of the nearest hospital after she suffered excessive bleeding.

The doctors told him that the maid was pregnant and had just delivered in an abnormal way. The sponsor got suspicious because his housemaid was staying alone with his family. He returned home, searched the maid’s room and found blood in her private toilet. He searched the waste bin adjacent to his house, and to his utter surprise, the body was found inside it.

He then approached the RAK Police and lodged a complaint against his maid. The housemaid, an Asian, admitted to having an illicit affair with an Asian worker at their neighbour’s house, and got pregnant.

She added that her lover, who promised to marry her, fled the country after he had come to know about her pregnancy. To cover up the issue, she killed her baby and dumped the body in the waste bin.

The woman, who is already married and has children back home, was referred to the RAK Criminal Court, which sentenced her to life in prison, and deportation thereafter.
