Police to be out in full force
dubai — The Dubai Police have completed preparations for Eid Al Adha with 16 police patrols deployed in major tourist areas and shopping malls.
Major-General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of the Dubai Police, held a meeting with the event committee to discuss the preparations for Eid Al Adha. The meeting was attended by Brigadier-General Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, director of the general department of traffic, Brigadier-General Omar Abdullah Al Shamsi, director of the general department of operations room and Ahmed Thani Al Matrooshi, managing director of Emaar. The plans laid out by the events and activities committee, Emaar, Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Dubai Foundation for Ambulance Services were discussed during the meeting.
Major-General Al Marri said the plans are there to enhance the presence of police to provide comfort for citizens, residents, and visitors. He appealed to everyone to abide by the guidelines and regulations and urged road users to exercise caution while driving to avoid accidents. “Police patrolling will be intensified on the highways and internal roads across the emirate to ensure smooth and safe traffic,” he added.
The security measures to be implemented during the Eid Al Adha holidays were also reviewed in the meeting. Brig-Gen Abdullah Al Ghaithi, director of the general department of protective security and emergency, presented the security plans at Zabeel Mosque during Eid prayers. He said that 16 police patrol vehicles will cover the tourist areas and shopping malls in the emirate.
Brigadier Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei presented the traffic action plans and provided an integrated explanation on using alternative routes at crowded locations. RTA officials explained that 30 additional signboards have been put in place to guide the public to help reach shopping malls and event areas. The number of taxis has increased by five per cent compared to last year and Metro service is extended till 2am. Maj-Gen Al Marri praised the coordination between all the departments.
