Police deploy more patrols

- Amira Agarib

dubai — The Dubai police urged motorists to exercise caution while driving, especially on the external roads during fog.

Brigadier Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, director of the General Department of Traffic at the Dubai Police, said that the police are taking several measures to prevent fog accidents, including the distribution of more patrols on external roads in addition to continuing its pivotal role in raising awareness of drivers through awareness lectures and other measures.

He urged motorists to check the weather conditions and take precautions such as, going to work early in order to avoid the stress in the event of delays.

He pointed out that as Dubai is witnessing heavy fog, drivers should be cautious and should abide by the necessary instructions. He stressed the importance of reducing speeds during driving in these circumstances, because the driver may not have full opportunity to use the brake in the absence of the ability to see a distance of not more than two or three metres, considering that the error in these circumstances may cost the driver his life.

Brigadier Al Mazrouei said in case of minor accidents, which cause no injuries, motorists can move to the nearest police station or use the smart application of the Dubai Police to report it.
