Man jailed, fined for forging e-documents
sharjah — A 45-year-old Arab was sentenced to one year in jail and a fine of Dh150,000 for forging e-documents to siphon off Dh200,000 from the company he worked for. He was also ordered to be deported after his jail term.
The Sharjah Criminal Court announced the verdict on Wednesday.
The Dubai Public Prosecution charged the suspect with forging the e-documents that belonged to the firm he was employed in. The man was aware that by doing so he was violating UAE’s federal law pertaining to information technology.
The accused forged the invoices addressed to the Sharjah economic department and other government departments in Sharjah.
During the investigation, he confessed to the crime.
He told the court, in the last

He admitted having faked the documents and embezzled Dh200,000. He denied having siphoned off Dh797,000 as was alleged in the complaint lodged by the company.
A company supervisor detected the crime after he reviewed and audited the transaction and checked the documents for their authenticity. When he found them forged, he informed the authorities concerned. The accused can appeal against the ruling within 15 days.
