Sharjah survey to assess Emiratis’ living conditions
sharjah — The Sharjah Department of Statistics and Community Development (DSCD) has launched a project that aims to provide a comprehensive database on the living conditions of the emirate’s citizens.
The first-of-its-kind activity from the DSCD, ‘Tahdeeth’, will update demographic information about citizens and assess their living conditions. The project will update data about seven social categories: Children without parents, widows, divorced and abandoned women, people with disabilities, the elderly, those who have never attended school and job seekers.
“The project will utilise the latest international statistical techniques for data gathering, with the ultimate aim being to enhance the wellbeing of residents,” said the department in a Press statement.
The DSCD held training workshops for more than 60 data collectors and call centre staff at the Sharjah Municipality for the project. The five-day training workshop was conducted to improve the mechanism of statistical work.
“The DSCD works according to a practical methodology that aligns with the vision and directives of His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah,” said Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Thani, chairman of the DSCD.
