The 37th edition of Gitex Technology Week, which opened in Dubai on Sunday, is showcasing innovation­s that are set to transform the world. Here is a peek at some of the smartest machines at the show attended by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

Dubai Police Hoversurf

> Used for traffic congestion management > Operates for 20-25 minutes on battery and an hour on gasoline > Can carry 300kg, including its commander > Can fly 6km on remote control at a speed of 70kmph

Tesla Model X

> All-wheel drive, ample seating for seven adults > 47km range on a single charge > 5-star safety rating in every category > Eight surround cameras allow 360-degree vision > 12 ultrasonic sensors detect surroundin­g objects

RTA air taxi

> The two-seater is developed by German drone firm Volocopter > Operates without human interventi­on or a pilot > Powered by clean electricit­y and features low noise levels > Prototype can fly 30 minutes at 50kmph

> Futuristic looks, four-seater, forerunner in mobility revolution > Digital living space with 6 displays on instrument panel and rear and side walls > Control by gestures or touching the screens > Electric hybrid system with a total range of 1,100km

Dubai Police smart bike

> 360-degree monitoring of offending vehicles > 8 cameras send images directly to police operations room > Maximum speed of 200kmph > Single battery charge can last up to eight hours
