Emirates ID will soon help you to find perfect residence in Dubai

- Kelly Clarke

dubai — Forget trawling the Internet or dealing with pushy real estate agents for weeks on end to find the perfect home and location for you and your family.

A new platform from Smart Dubai — which will soon be linked to your Emirates ID — will provide tailormade, decision-making for you.

In a chat with Khaleej Times on Monday, Dr Aisha bint Butti bin Bishr, director-general of the Smart Dubai Office said its Smart Decision-Making Platform, which was announced at Gitex Technology Week on Sunday, allows people to ask “the right questions and get the answers they need, in real-time”.

Using an immersive, interactive room called ‘Future, Live’, ‘City Resident’ — one of the features of the room — allows residents to visualise their future living possibilities.

“This platform has collated data sets from more than 200 government databases to provide residents with citywide data. We have included the locations of schools and hospitals as well as public transport options too.” But more than simply provide location mapping,

At Smart Dubai we are working towards digitising ID’s to bring everyone onto the same platform. If everything is connected it will streamline many processes and improve productivity and efficiency for both government services and individuals.” Dr Aisha Bint Butti bin Bishr, director-general, Smart Dubai Office

the data also helps the resident to “dig a little deeper”. “The mapping platform lets you know how far these residential locations are from entertainment hotspots, hospitals, and schools, as well as average property values. It also provides further information on the facilities such as the ratings of the schools, the curriculum it offers, as well as the specialty of a particular hospital or the number of beds available in it. And it is that feature that allows people to make decisions in “one easy movement,” Bin Bishr added.

The thinking behind the platform is to use the unification of data to help normal home seekers, entrepreneurs make a “mindful decision about what areas in Dubai will cater to their needs best”.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council, officially launched the Smart DecisionMaking Platform, and its immersive room, earlier this week.

Though presently, the live-mapping is not connected with the national ID cards, Bin Bishr said the next step is to integrate personal ID information to the platform.

“If everything is connected it will streamline many processes and improve productivity and efficiency for both government services and individuals.”

And very soon, she said they will be making an announcement taking digital IT to next level, which in the future will “digitise things like handing over of cheques when renting property”.
