Man hides for five years after crime

sharjah — An Asian, who hit his compatriot on the head, causing him a permanent injury, went into hiding for five years, according to the Sharjah Police.

The family of the accused and the police launched a manhunt and brought him to the court for trial. The accused had earlier been sentenced in absentia.

The lawyer of the accused said that the accused was a juvenile — aged only 16 years — when the incident had happened. He also said that the family of the victim had dropped the case. He presented a certified letter from the public notary in this regard. The presiding judge adjourned the court hearing till the end of October.
