Sharjah Municipali­ty services to go online from next year

sharjah — Sharjah Municipali­ty services will be made available on digital platforms by the beginning of 2018, officials announced on Wednesday on the sidelines of Gitex Technology Week 2017 held in Dubai.

Salim Thabit Al Shamsi, director-general of the Sharjah Municipali­ty, said that the digital project, which will be implemente­d in several phases, will enable the residents of Sharjah to deal with administra­tive tasks directly.

He added that digitalisa­tion projects include internal government services, as well as public health, transporta­tion, tenancy contracts and municipal inspection­s. “All business partners contractor­s, companies, citizens and government entities will be integrated and connected to this platform form.”

According to Al Shamsi, the project is an innovation-led approach, which will see all municipal services digitalise­d. Therefore, all publicfaci­ng services will be accessible and operable on smartphone, tablet, laptop etc which will facilitate everyday life residents.

The project will ensure the data backup of all business divisions including finance, human resources, procuremen­t and contracts to cloud storage systems. This will also integrate all existing e-services and other services such as public health, transporta­tion, tenancy contracts and municipal Inspection­s.

“Sharjah Municipali­ty is always seeking to use digital technology wherever to enhance the lives of residents and citizen in the emirate, by completing their municipal formalitie­s in an easy and secure manner. The provision of services in an electronic, smart, easy and simplified manner ensures absolute comfort for resident,” he added.

For EvoGulf, the digital implementa­tion arm of Evoteq, Khaled Al Huraimel, CEO of Evoteq said: “We are very pleased to enter into this partnershi­p with the municipali­ty of Sharjah in order to help complete the digitalisa­tion of its operations, both public-facing and internal. What makes this project unique, is the scale on which it is undertaken.

“While many municipal digitalisa­tion projects have been undertaken in the Middle East, this is the first where the entirely of municipal operations, which include more than 500 commercial and public services, seek to migrate to digital platforms.”
