New establishment classification in Dec

-

abu dhabi — The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation will be applying a new scheme for the classification of establishments within three categories based on the employees’ skills level at the establishment in December.

This is to fulfill a decision the UAE Cabinet issued in regard to the classification of establishments that are subject to the law governing labour relationship and bank guarantees.

The ministry will be also applying new fees on labour permits. The amount will depend on the workers’ skills level, and whether they are hired from abroad or from within the country, as well as in which category the firm is listed in the classification scheme.

Under the new scheme, companies that will be employing Emirati nationals or a GCC citizen shall be exempted from paying the labour permit fee levied on the employee.

Furthermore, fishing boats companies will be also exempted from paying the labour permit fee in line with another decision issued by the UAE cabinet regarding the services fees, administrative fines imposed by the ministry.

Saqr bin Ghobash Saeed Ghobash, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation, said: “The new classification scheme for companies registered with the ministry has been entirely designed so the labour market in the country could be empowering Emiratis to join the sector and attract the proficient manpower in a way that could contribute to fulfilling the objectives of the national agenda and UAE Vision 2021.”

The classification scheme, Ghobash said, will prompt the private sector to adopt new recruitment policies, which will have a positive impact on boosting job opportunities for Emiratis.
