dubai — Achieving the wellbeing of its citizens is the government’s top priority, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, said on Sunday.
“We want the best future for them, and we inspire our progress and continuity through our ability to innovate and invent solutions that anticipate future challenges, so the UAE and its cities remain the centre of the world,” Sheikh Mohammed said.
He was speaking during a board meeting of the Dubai Executive Council at Emirates Towers, in the presence of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council; and Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and First Deputy Chairman of the Executive Council. Sheikh Mohammed also said that the leadership should come up with ideas that help achieve the required leap, in terms of improving people’s lifestyles for a better future.
Simple ideas require only determination and a strong belief in success to become great achievement, Sheikh Mohammed noted. “We always look forward and don’t settle for previous accomplishments amid a changing world that requires continuity in the race of competitiveness through innovative tools. We have all what it takes to challenge the impossible.”
Sheikh Mohammed added: “We are proud of what we have achieved, and our expectations from government entities are high in order to maintain our leadership; that’s why I follow up the progress of the government through periodic reports via the chairman of the Executive Council, to ensure the accomplishment of the vision that I’ve set for Dubai to become the best and the happiest city in the world by 2021.”
The Dubai Ruler said he will personally follow up the opportunities offered to younger leadership, and developing the skills of subsequent levels of leaders, to be able to innovate and lead in the future. He also directed the creation of the Strategic Affairs Council to replace the sectorial committees to support the Executive Council in executing its duties. Sheikh Hamdan commended the efforts of all parties, adding that the next period will require more innovation to cement the UAE and Dubai’s position across different sectors. He also emphasised on investing in the youth and exploit their energies and talents in an optimal manner for a better future, and ensure an improving quality of life.
