Abu Dhabi Police break world record

abu dhabi — The Abu Dhabi Police recorded a new Guiness Book of World Record for the largest ‘Youth Circle’ tackling Internet security and cyber crime on Sunday.

A total of 5,000 Emirati men, women and students from all walks of life, as well as Abu Dhabi Police staff, men and women, from different sectors, gathered for the largest-ever youth circle, at the Mubadala Arena in Zayed Sports City. The world-record event was attended by Shamma Al Mazrui, Minister of State for Youth Affairs; Major-General Mohammed Khalfan Al Rumaithi, Commander-in-Chief of Abu Dhabi Police; Major- General Maktoum Al Sharifi, Director-General of Abu Dhabi Police, and other government­al officials.

During the event, the participan­ts of Youth Circle, all under 30, got the chance to ask questions including on how parents can ensure safety of their children while they are on social media.

Major-General Al Rumaithi said said that ensuring online safety of all individual­s is one of the top priorities for the Abu Dhabi Police, which is why the Youth Circle was held on Sunday, in order to raise awareness and enhance cyber security, particular­ly among young people.

Shamma Al Mazrui said: “Cyber security is an issue which concerns us all. Technology lives with us all, so it is crucial that we learn the different ways that we can protect ourselves and our families from the dangers found online.”
