New paid parking areas in Ajman

- Afkar Abdullah

ajman — The Ajman Municipality on Wednesday launched a prepaid parking fee service in two busy areas of the emirate.

From Saturday, Al Ittihad and Sheikh Rashid Bin Humaid streets will have prepaid parking fee service. With this, 1,038 parking lots in these two areas will become paid. The prepaid parking service has been initiated as the streets experience traffic issues around the clock, according to the municipality.

Dr Mohammed Ahmed bin Omair Al Muhairi, executive director of infrastructure development sector and planning department, said that machines have been installed on Al Ittihad Road from the beginning of Ajman Gate parking to Noor Al Kawthar Mall, and on Sheikh Rashid Bin Humaid Street up to Ajman Towers areas.

Parking inspectors will be deployed during two periods, starting from 8am to 1pm and from 5pm to 9pm to monitor the areas and ensure that motorists are complying with the rule.

Al Muhairi added that motorists could make the parking payment via the Mawkifi (my position) smart application or via SMS service.
