Myanmar opium crop plummets

The area under opium cultivatio­n in Myanmar has shrunk by a quarter in two years, a UN study said on Wednesday, as demand for opiates eases and methamphet­amine use surges. Myanmar remains world’s second largest producer of opium and is at the heart of methamphet­amine produce in Southeast Asia.—
