dubai — On a day when the big names were slow to start off with, China’s Muni He impressed in her first outing after turning pro at the Omega Dubai Ladies Classic on Wednesday.

The 18-year-old from Chengdu came away with a one-under 71 at the Majlis Course of the Emirates Golf Club to be placed tied 29th. Muni He had two birdies and a bogey in her round.

Considering it was only her second event on the Ladies European Tour, it was a good showing from the Chinese. Muni He had missed the cut here last year after two rounds of 76.

And Muni He was glad about the day’s returns.

“I think it went pretty smoothly. I was just kind of able to play my own golf,” Muni He said after her round on Wednesday.

“I had a lot of fun out there. I think I had a lot of really good chances out there that I missed. That’s okay. It just means there’s room for improvement. I’m pretty happy,” she added.

Muni He felt that she could have returned with an even better round had she not missed a few birdie chances. “I write down all the birdies that I missed. It seems like within like six yards today, I missed one, two, three, four, five, six, six birdie chances. But of course, you can never have the perfect round. But yeah, six birdies, that’s what I missed,” Muni He said.

The Chinese revealed that she was a tad nervous going into her first round as a professional golfer.

“I think I was a bit nervous before going out there today just because I came from Stage 3 and I didn’t really perform too well there.”
