Cahill quits City with eye on WC

Veteran Tim Cahill quit his club Melbourne City Wednesday, with the Australian striker keen for more game time to cement his spot in the World Cup squad.

Cahill played a key role in helping the Socceroos qualify for Russia next year. But he has rarely featured in the Melbourne starting line-up since joining the A-League side in 2016 and raised the prospect of a move last month, saying “I need game time”.
