Man on trial for filming two women
ras al khaimah – A man is standing trial at the Ras Al Khaimah Misdemeanour Court for videotaping two women and posting the footage on social media without their consent.
As per the court records, the case unfolded when the defendant, a GCC national, intentionally videotaped the duo at a café against their will, according to judicial sources. The young man was charged with not only videotaping the two women and posting the same on social media against their will, but also swearing using abusive words against them in the same video he shared.
One of the two young women lodged a complaint with the RAK Police which summoned the defendant, and referred the case to the public prosecution.
The case was moved to the Ras Al Khaimah Misdemeanour Court, which heard the pleading of the defendant. The young man denied the charges and told the court that he was a friend of the women long time ago, and videotaped them at the café with their consent.
He added that he shared the same video with one of the two women, but the other young woman, to his surprise, lodged a complaint against him with the RAK Police, alleging she did not know about it.
The same court started hearing another case in which an executive woman with a government department accused another staff, who works with a motor agency, of selling a vehicle against Dh5,000 using forged documents.
The woman clerk admitted to making a mistake when she unintentionally transferred the vehicle ownership to another person without verifying the original ownership card of the car, and the identity of the applicant. “I followed the due procedures to verify the identity of the applicant, but erringly did not verify the ownership card submitted by the suspect.”
The court ordered the adjournment of the case to complete the hearing sessions from all parties. ahmedshaaban@khaleejtimes.com
