Islamophobia to be focus at forum for peace

abu dhabi — The Forum for Promoting Peace in Muslim Societies intends to present a contemporary Islamic vision of world peace and will showcase the contributions of Islam.

This was unveiled by Dr Mohamad Matar Al Kaabi, secretary general of the Forum for Promoting Peace in Muslim Societies and chairman of the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Awqaf, on Saturday.

The forum’s fourth edition will be held on December 11-13, 2017 under the theme ‘Global Peace and the Fear of Islam: Countering the Spread of Extremism’. Around 700 scholars, intellectuals and researchers and representatives of religions and cultures from the UAE, the Arab and Muslim worlds, and the international community will be attending. Topics to be discussed are religion, identity and world peace; the fear of Islam and it reasons; an Islamic vision for world peace, among others.
