Cops rescue 60-year-old man stranded in desert

abu dhabi — The Abu Dhabi Police have airlifted a 60-year-old man, who was stranded in the desert after his car got stuck in the sand. The police found his vehicle stuck in the sand in the north of Al Ain’s Nahal area. The citizen’s family have thanked the police for their prompt action, the police said in a Press statement.

“The man said he had stepped out for a desert drive, but got stuck on a sand dune. He called his family, but couldn’t guide them to his location in the desert. After his phone ran out of battery, his family got worried and contacted the police,” the police said.General Ibrahim Hassan Al Baloushi, director of the Abu Dhabi Air Wing department, said those planning a desert drive should keep emergency numbers and immediatel­y seek help if they get lost.
