ajman — The new Ajman Funeral Services Committee, consisting of members from the Ajman Municipality and Police, will offer its services to the entire emirate.
During an honouring ceremony organised by the Ajman Municipality to appreciate the efforts of the funeral services committee, municipality director-general Abdul Rahman Al Nuaimi said that the committee had made great strides in the numbering and monitoring the graves through an integrated operations centre, with CCTV cameras and guards on rotation duty round the clock.

team, explained that when the committee receives a call from the deceased’s family, it starts the procedures immediately by communicating with the police and the hospital. The team also prepares the mosque for the washing of deceased and funeral prayers, then transports the body to the cemetery in cooperation with the community police. For the families of the deceased, the funeral services team also sets up tents near their houses, for receiving condolences. Al Hosani said the team members are also trained to perform their tasks effectively in cases when there are more than one deceased persons.
Dr Captain Mohammed Al Suwaidi, director of Ajman Police’s Social wing, said that the police escorts funeral processions to cemeteries, as part of an initiative called ‘Honour the Deceased’. It also helps the families obtain death certificates and other documents, in order to complete burial related formalities.
