Zardari and Imran are damaging democratic system: Saad Rafiq

-

lahore — Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafiq on Saturday alleged that PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari and PTI chairman Imran Khan were damaging the democratic system by crossing political limits.

Talking to media at Cavalry Ground here, he said both politicians were competing with each other in using foul language against their opponents.

The minister said the PPP and the PTI tried their best to damage the PML-N but failed in their designs. “Some of our opponents can even join hands with the devil just to bring about our downfall,” he remarked.

He said all institutions should work within the limits of constitution, pointing out that martial law had been imposed on four occasions in the past. “We have paid a price for democracy and still we are paying,” he added. “We have not stepped back from our demand of rule of constitution in the country,” Saad Rafiq said.

Referring to alliances being forged by religious elements, he said religion should not be used for advancing political agenda. “No one has problem to political alliances but objections are raised when politics is practised on the name of religion,” Saad said.

The minister said that Asif Zardari was a clever politician but his image had been tarnished because of corruption scandals. “Zardari’s politics has been destroyed as now his PPP has come down from a party of millions to a party of few thousands and confined to rural areas of Sindh,” he added. — APP
