Al Bayt Mitwahid Association joined hands with Huawei to facilitate the UAE students’ participation in the competition, the final stage of which took place this week.

The competition was launched in the Middle East in August 2017, and aimed to bridge the gap between the classroom and the workforce, by nurturing and developing ICT skills of the students, preparing them to be future industry leaders.

Saif Ali Al Qubaisi, chairman of Al Bayt Mitwahid Association, stated: “We are delighted with the excellent results achieved by the UAE team in this competition. This competition was a great way for students to learn and develop their ICT skills, by exposure to some of the top global ICT executives and the leading international provider of ICT Solutions.”

All the participants were picked through rigorous examinations at the national level. They then worked in real laboratories and tackled some of the industry’s most complex challenges related to cloud computing, switching, routing, and other key ICT solutions and technologies related to digital transformation.

Khulood Alqemzi, a UAE University student said: “We are very happy to have represented the UAE at the ICT Skill Competition. Huawei gave us a great opportunity to improve our skills and expand our knowledge.”

Ali Obaid Ali Al Yabhouni Al Dhaheri, the UAE’s Ambassador to China, delivered the award to the winning team on stage, at the Shenzen event.

“We re-dedicate ourselves to working even more closely with students across the region to better equip the next generation of technology leaders,” said Charles Yang, President of Huawei Middle East. The 13 finalist teams had a unique opportunity to learn from Huawei’s global ICT.— Wam
