May meet financiers to talk Brexit deal
UK Prime Minister Theresa May met a group of City financiers on Thursday to discuss safeguarding London’s financial services in any trade deal with the European Union following Brexit.
Aviva, Goldman Sachs International, HSBC Holdings, Prudential and the London Stock Exchange Group met May and Chancellor of the Exchequer Philip Hammond at the premier’s London office.
They were “part of a series of business engagement meetings,” said May’s spokesman, James Slack, in a huddle with reporters. The agenda also included boardroom pay against a backdrop of continued austerity.
