Shabab Al Ahli hold Al Ain to a draw

-

DUBAI — Al ain were held to a 1-1 draw with shabab al ahli in the arabian gulf league match played at the rashid stadiumon friday.

the most dangerous chance of an otherwise quiet first half came in the 26th minute when markus berg sprayed the ball to ahmed khalil who ran out wide into the right wing, before crossing back to berg, but the swede couldn’t finish and headed off majed naser’s far post.

zoran mamic’s side broke the deadlock in the 66th minute. caio lucas sent a pinpoint pass inside the penalty box for berg, who received the ball with his right and directly finished with his left, making it 1-0 for al ain.

the hosts responded within ten minutes, as abdulaziz haikal advanced from the right wing, sending an accurate cross that was headed home by seed jassim’s to level the score.

the result puts al ain under pressure, as chasers al wahda now have the opportunity to catch them with 32 points on top of the league if they win against al dhafra.

hatta and emirates played out a 2-2 draw in the clash of the relegation battlers at the hamdan bin rashid stadium in hatta.

after what looked like an initial domination for the hurricanes, the falcons came back into the game in the second half and brought the game back to level terms.

in the first half, the hosts took control of the game when, in the 43rd minute, fernando gabriel opened the scoring via a free-kick.

hatta continued their dominance after the restart with a second goal in the 49th minute. gabriel, on the end of yet another free-kick, crossed the ball into the box past the emirates defenders to reach hamdan qassim who sent a low cross into samuel rosa to extend hatta’s lead.

instead of giving hatta a sense of security, the second goal led to the re-emergence of the away side and emirates brought the score back to 2-1 two minutes later. al husain saleh received the ball from abdelghani mouaui on the left flank, crossing it in for sebastian saez to head into the far corner.

emirates’ resurgence continued in the later stages of the game, and in the 65th minute they got their equaliser after a long ball sent to the attack by the emirates defence was dealt with poorly by yousef el sayed, and this time mouaui took advantage of the loose ball to place the ball in abdulla al qamish’s net.

the draw keeps emirates and hatta in the same positions, tenth and 11th with 11 and ten points respectively. emirates sit three points ahead of al dhafra in last place and a point behind dibba who have a game in hand in ninth place
