abu Dhabi Police marks 60 years of excellence

GOING DIGITAL
With the country paving way to become a smart nation, Abu Dhabi Police has fully integrated e-services that add convenience for residents. Options such as paying fines, reporting an issue as well as applying for other services is easily available via specialised booths and official website.
CURBING ROAD INCIDENTS
To date, road accidents remain one of the biggest killers in Abu Dhabi, however, with the efforts of the authorities, this number has been greatly brought down. The number of deaths by road incidents was recorded as 199 in 2017, a third lower than 2016, which saw 289 deaths. The number of accidents too was reduced to 1,533 last year from 1,740 in 2016. Aside from issuing over four million fines, the police continue to monitor driving habits and generates campaigns to help save lives.
“Continuous efforts by police have seen road deaths drop to 5.7 per 100,000 population, exceeding the target, which was 7.34 deaths per 100,000,” added Brig Al Dhaheri in an interview.
TACKLING CYBERCRIMES
Abu Dhabi Police also takes up arms against online crimes. In 2017, the police investigated 774 cybercrime cases, out of which 206 were listed as blackmail. UAE residents are reminded to use the Internet responsibly, keep personal information private, maintain good behaviour on social media, and avoid situations that may lead to fraud or spams.
According to Brig. Tariq Al Ghoul, Director of the Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Investigation, Abu Dhabi Police pays extra attention to tackle crimes that take place online, by utilising state-of-the-art technology and innovative methods to trace and solve cases.
Al Ghoul stressed that the police are always available to help, no matter the situation, as it focuses on combatting crimes, while maintaining professionalism and transparency.
