Abu Dhabi launches classic plate collection
abu dhabi — Major-General Mohammed Khalfan Al Rumaithi, Commander-in-Chief of Abu Dhabi Police, oversaw the launch of the first licence plate number which is part of the ‘Classic’ plates collection, at the second Al Murabba Heritage Festival being held in Al Ain.
Out of the special plates are ‘1918’, which represents the year of birth of the UAE’s founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, while ‘2018’ is honoured by denoted the Year of Zayed. ‘1948’ represents the date of the Murabaa fortress’s construction and ‘1957’ is the year which the Abu Dhabi Police was established. The plate ‘1971’ denotes the founding year of the UAE.
The release of this collection is in line with the Year of Zayed initiative of the Abu Dhabi Police, standing for these remarkable years which hold a special place in the hearts of all UAE citizens and residents.
Brigadier-General Ali Khalfan Al Dhaheri, director of the Central Operations Sector at Abu Dhabi Police, said that the initiative reflects the importance of the Murabaa Fortress, in maintaining security and tranquillity for all citizens. He added that 1948 was also the year the Al Ain Police headquarters was established.
The festival successfully highlighted the Abu Dhabi Police’s legacy, displaying old police cars and photographs documenting the department’s history.
