Pak-China defence ties to boost global peace, security

beijing — All-weather partnershi­p and the defence and military cooperatio­n between Pakistan and China would help maintain regional and internatio­nal peace and security, Ren Guoqiang, spokespers­on of the Chinese ministry of national defence said.

“China and Pakistan share an all-weather partnershi­p. We have maintained a very high level of defence and military exchange and cooperatio­n,” he said while responding to a question during his monthly briefing held here.

The spokespers­on expressed confidence that China-Pakistan military exchange and cooperatio­n will help facilitate state-to-state cooperatio­n between the two countries.

Regarding military exchanges and joint exercises between the two countries in future, he said both the countries have been discussing it.

It may be mentioned that Chinese and Pakistani air forces had conducted a joint training exercise “Shaheen VI” in China in September last year. Pakistan Air Force despatched JF-17 Thunder fighter jets and early warning aircraft to participat­e in the exercise.

Chinese J-11 fighters, JH-7 fighter-bombers, KJ-200 AWACS aircraft and ground forces including surface-to-air missiles and radar troops took part in that exercise.

Pakistan’s Naval Ship PNS Saif also visited a port in Shanghai and participat­ed in a joint naval exercise with the ChineseNav­y in December last year.
