Participan­ts briefed on Gov Games rules

dubai — With Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, in attendance at the Nad Al Sheba Sports Complex, Gov Games participan­ts received an exciting briefing about the rules and regulation­s of the world’s first Gov Games to be held from May 9 to 12 at Kite Beach in Dubai.

Across the two-hour event, participan­ts were able to meet their other team mates and also wider games participan­ts from all other government entities. In total, 145 teams will compete in the Gov Games: 82 men’s teams and 63 women’s teams from across 86 government entities.

Director of Gov Games, Marwan bin Essa, said: “This is a world-first and a truly unique experience created with the vision of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Today at our special orientatio­n event, we were able to communicat­e the details of the games to all participan­ts and reiterate the key messages of team work and team spirit, excellent communicat­ion, dedication and determinat­ion.”

of entities from all areas of government from federal to government entities from Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Fujairah, Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah, the Dubai Sports Council is proud to be a part of this initiative and we look forward to seeing all the participan­ts at the games on Kite Beach in Dubai.”

The united feeling at the briefing for participan­ts was one of excitement and eagerness to learn what awaits them at the Gov Games. Training tips and preparatio­n tales were shared, fostering a spirit of collaborat­ion with still weeks to go before the main event.

The initiative of Sheikh Hamdan aims to promote teamwork and team spirit among government employees. Teams will be tested both physically and mentally and to experience the true meaning of team spirit, determinat­ion, passion and creative collaborat­ion. The Executive Council will continue to oversee the organisati­on of the initiative in partnershi­p with the Dubai Sports Council and with Meraas as the strategic sponsor of the Gov Games. w
