1,000 guests will be flown in to mark Year of Zayed
abu dhabi — Etihad Aviation Group on Saturday launched four initiatives to mark the Year of Zayed, which include flying in 1,000 people from across the world. The initiatives, set to be run throughout the year, are based on the four themes of Year of Zayed — wisdom, respect, sustainability and human development.
The initiatives are: Year of Zayed themed special freighter to carry out humanitarian missions; a Zayed themed A380 and Abu Dhabi Experience; Abu Dhabi Birdathon; and renamed Zayed Campus buildings which will host Young Aviators.
Under the theme of respect, Etihad Airways will launch a specially branded freighter aircraft to conduct humanitarian flights for charitable organisations. The first mission will take off in May.
As part of the Abu Dhabi cultural experience, Etihad Airways will fly in 1,000 guests to experience the capital’s vibrant culture and sites.
Combining the themes of flying and sustainability, Etihad Airways and the Environment Agency Abu Dhabi will host the Abu Dhabi Birdathon, in which several tagged flamingos, each one nominated to an Abu Dhabi partner entity, will be tracked online as they fly off during the breeding season. In the final campaign component, Etihad will dedicate its training facility buildings to Sheikh Zayed. The Etihad Training Academy building adjacent to the Corporate Headquarters will be renamed Zayed Campus — Abu Dhabi, and the Etihad Aviation Training facility in Al Ain will become Zayed Campus — Al Ain.
