New airport to boost Oman Air’s expansion
dubai — The new passenger terminal at Muscat International Airport in Oman will facilitate Oman Air’s network expansion plan and growth over the next 4 years.
“Oman Air has been very closely involved in this important new project. The opening of the new terminal will further facilitate the airline’s exciting fleet and network expansion programme, which will see Oman Air operate up to 66 aircraft to around 60 destinations by 2022,” Oman’s national carrier said.
Khaleej Times recently took a familiarisation trip of Oman’s new international terminal, which houses a number of facilities including 6,000sqm of duty free shopping, 96 check-in counters, 8,000 parking spaces and a 90room airside hotel.
The opening of the new passenger terminal has long been anticipated and is a momentous occasion in the sultanate’s history.
Oman Air is confident that this new development will allow it to offer its valued guests a new level of service that is sure to exceed their high expectations.
In 2018, Oman Air already announced the arrival of new aircraft, new routes to Istanbul, Casablanca and Moscow, as well as an expansion of existing services.
Following the inauguration of the terminal on March 19, Oman Air started its operations from the new passenger terminal on March 20 and transferred all flights from the current terminal to the new passenger terminal. Oman Air now operates up to 200 flights per day from the new terminal which will have the capacity to handle 20 million passengers per year and its runway will be able accommodate the world’s largest aircraft, the Airbus A380, and independent parallel operation.
