Sheikh Mohamed attends Abu Dhabi Jiu-Jitsu Championship
abu dhabi — In presence of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces; the sixth day of the 10th Abu Dhabi World Professional JiuJitsu Championship concluded with the world’s leading professional Jiu-Jitsu players, coaches and referees convened at Mubadala Arena in Zayed Sports City.
Accompanied by his grandchildren, Sheikh Mohamed took a tour of the arena, witnessing live matches in the family-oriented environment and then proceeded to crown winners from the male kids (4-17) all belts category.
International spectators who have gathered in Abu Dhabi from around the world witnessed athletes competing for the top spot across the male Kids (4-7) all belts category, (40 and above) Blue, Purple, Brown and Black belts for Masters 3 & 4 male and Master 1 female categories.
Abdulmonem Al Hashemi, Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation expressed his gratitude to Sheikh Mohamed for gracing the Championship with his presence and on behalf of the UAEJJF thanked him for his constant support towards Jiu-Jitsu.
A special new addition on Saturday, since the commencement of the Championship were the Para Jiu-Jitsu competitions across all classes, dedicated to fighters with disabilities and special needs. Introduced for the first-time-ever in 2017, the Para Jiu-Jitsu segment in its second edition aims to inspire and nurture an emerging generation of Para Jiu-Jitsu athletes throughout the region. The UAEJJF is committed to introducing and cultivating CSR initiatives for the community, and the Para Jiu-Jitsu division seamlessly aligns with the Year of Zayed in the UAE.
Results for the Under 18 Jiu-Jitsu championships resulted in 238 golds, 232 silver and 272 bronze medals, while the Above 18 and Para Jiu-Jitsu championships resulted in 71 gold medals, 68 silver and 11 bronze medals.
