76,560 fake drugs seized in Abu Dhabi
abu dhabi — As many as 76,560 packets of unregistered medicines, as well as 136 pharmaceutical products, stored in poor condition at an apartment were seized by a team of health inspectors.
Dr Amin Hussein Al Amiri, assistant undersecretary for the UAE Ministry of Health’s Public Health Policy and License Sector, said the ministry received tip-off that a huge number of medicine boxes were being transported to an apartment by a car that had the name of a medical company on it.
A team from the ministry, along with the police, raided the apartment, seized the medicines and sent them to laboratory for quality check. The police are investigating to make sure there aren’t more apartments being used for the same purpose. — Wam
