18 killed in UP, MP accidents

lucknow — At least 12 people were killed when their vehicle travelling at high speed rammed into a truck in Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur Kheri district, police said. And in Madhya Pradesh, a groom and five from his wedding party heading to his marriage were killed after their car collided head-on with a truck here.

Nine of the 17 people in the minivan were killed on the spot while three others succumbed at the Shajanpurwa hospital in UP.

The accident took place near a famous roadside eatery on the National Highway 24 as the driver dozed off at the wheel.five persons were in critical condition and undergoing treatment.

In Madhya Pradesh, a groom and five others were killed as the car in which they were travelling was crushed under the truck after both vehicles rolled into a gorge following the collision on the Maihar-Amarpatan route near the Naroda village on Friday. —
