UAE offers $200M in aid to Pakistan
abu dhabi — The UAE will offer $200 million to Pakistan as part of the third phase of its assistance programme, it was announced on Sunday. The cooperation agreement that was signed in Islamabad marks the 51st anniversary of the humanitarian aid drive for Pakistan initiated by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan in 1967.
The agreement is in response to the directives of the President, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The UAE Pakistan Assistance Programme (UAE PAP) was launched to provide humanitarian assistance to Pakistanis and support their development initiatives for a better future.
Phase III of the initiative will be financed by the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development. In the previous two phases, 165 development and humanitarian projects were executed at a cost of $365 million.
The relations between the UAE and Pakistan are based on mutual love and respect and they have blossomed into a variety of fruitful partnerships

Abdullah Khalifah Al Ghafli, Director of the UAE PAP, said this phase would cover three provinces: Baluchistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and tribal areas. It will also include 40 projects covering roads, health, education, water and agriculture sectors.
Hamad Obaid Al Zaabi, UAE Ambassador to Pakistan, said the agreement underscores the commitment of the UAE to “stand constantly by the people of Pakistan”.
